There could be more done with the sound effects and some of the graphics, as well as showing the player the thresholds for star ratings. However, it's a pretty decent base game!

If not for issues with the hitbox of the rope, I'd probably enjoy this game and get down to the nice message. But for now, it just feels like a nicer version of Getting Over It due to the difficulty and climbing theme, haha.
Alright, I give up. I got to level 14 after all morning and afternoon.
I never liked those wooden puzzles as a kid, but I think this game just taught me how to solve them! The physics of getting stuck on an edge can indeed be really painful, as someone else said, but overall, in the regular mode at least, the game gives you freedom to screw around and find out, which puts me at ease.
Pretty fun game concept, with the major twist on the whole "chill game about collecting things" trope. I think it could be taken to a cooler place in the future if you decide to revisit it!
For me, the seagull's movement is too slow, and the perspective too awkward in terms of being able to position yourself right for firefly catching, for the large number of fireflies and the short time limit. That's my main complaint, because otherwise, it's pretty solid, and the aesthetics of the game look great!
I really hope you do more with this some time from now, because this has a solid foundation to become a fun and humorous game that a lot of people will be interested in playing!
I remember this game a while back on Coolmath. Thank you so much for being a good sport and being willing to change the death animation in that version so it could be hosted on the site - otherwise I never would've found and loved it!
What an effective and fun twist on action platformers! Everything is really well thought-out, making for a smooth but challenging experience with the right mix of excitement and silliness! The ending screen hits home - this game really does provide a sense of accomplishment. Good work!
The art and coding are pretty solid, though I'd love to see more options, and some of the clothing doesn't work together, like the skirts and the long jacket. I'd also have appreciated screenshot capabilities. Overall, decent and I generally enjoyed it!
I felt edgy today so I made this:
11,17,13,50,9,11,48,28,12,7,29,2
Programmed pretty solidly! I love all the options and the little fun touches like the animated critters in the background (and I caught the Undertale and Monument Valley references in the snow area!) I feel like the interface would've been better if it had more space between the item selectors and it responded to changes in what you had on your character. That might be something to consider if you go for a remake of some kind.
I feel like the input response, especially to jump, should be faster, to make up for the enemies being faster. I've died a few times because the character wouldn't jump in time to make up for the insanely fast enemies.
Anyway, really nice artwork in the game, and I love the silly take on amateur video games.
Pretty solid game! It took me a bit to understand how to get a match started with the CPU - my first instinct was to switch the second player to CPU first and then let it pick a character, so picking a character as Player 2 and then switching it to CPU was a bit weird to figure out.
Otherwise, I'd love to see some more fun and flashiness added in the future! Maybe some kind of ultimate attack the characters have to charge up for, to give it an extra bang?
You can drag and drop the CPU token as player 1 instead of doing what you did
Controls are a little hard to get the hang of, but otherwise, this is a really cool game, and you've progressed a lot in your game development in just 7 years! The core mechanic is really cool, too, and the graphics and music are really done well!
