This really reminds me of a game I used to play, called Osmos. It has the same relaxing feel. I appreciate that I can still control my player and play around after I've beaten the levels.
My main complaints so far are the mouse control (could it also be done with a keyboard control?) and the music not always looping perfectly. Would love to see more updates come with more levels!
Thanks for the kind comments and feedback!
Hi, I hope this review doesn't come across as harsh, I'd just like to give you some ideas for how to polish your game before releasing it again. Currently, there's no objective (such as points), and the user interface consists of just a yellow square. It might be good to either auto-respawn the player or have a large respawn button appear when the player dies. I also think that a points counter would give a reason to keep playing the game.
There are also some quality of life additions that could be made, such as a title screen and music. Hopefully this gives you ideas for how you can take your project further!
Thanks! I'll keep this is mind next time I make a game or update this one :)
I like what there is so far, but I feel like the wall-jump controls are kinda clunky, I'm struggling to get onto the next wall quickly and I would get stuck on the wall that has a gap in it. I'd also appreciate the game window just being smaller and not having to resize my browser.
Maybe you could find a good pixel font for the instructions, and have the game music not restart when I die? It's these little things that can really make the aesthetic of the game feel complete.
Thank you for your review, I will try to fix these soon, also for the resize I thought all browser games are like that becuse in my childhood I remember resizing my browser every time I wanted to play a browser game lol. Btw what level did you get to?
Doesn't even explain what to do to win. Also, don't use music you don't have the license for.
Edit: I literally don’t know how to play at all. Enjoy your game being removed for copyright infringement on The Living Tombstone’s music. It’s the law.
Pretty solid so far, for a game made within the same type of time span as a short game jam. I'd love to see how it evolves over time! I think the next step would probably be adding music, more sound effects (maybe an 8-bit rumble for the crumbling platforms?), and other quality of life updates.
thx
I think the artistic direction and throwing mechanic are really creative! The one problem I do have to mention is that the enemies are often hard to see against the background and tall grass - at least in the first level, I haven't gotten to the next ones yet. I'd also recommend the option to use Z or X instead of the left mouse button to throw an enemy, for those who prefer to use the arrow keys to move.
Edit: Ooh! I'll stay tuned to see how it evolves!
Thanks for the review! This game was a jam game I released at the start of the year I only had a few days to finish it thats why it looks lacking in terms of content, hopefully in the future I'll make this into a full fledged game and I'll take your review into consideration!
thank you so very much for playing my game
Seems pretty solid, despite being simple. Is the text meant to go offscreen?
no, I don't think so, it was finished 6 weeks ago and was on hold, all I did was compile it today, so I did not check :1. OH CRAP IT'S NOT FULLSCREEN
Most of it works decently, aside from the points going into the negative if you lose enough. I'd appreciate if you simulated a looping background in a way that doesn't use flashing lights, as it hurts my eyes and could make people with photosensitive epilepsy have seizures.
Also, NG site rules won't let you use Pizza Tower music for your game, sorry.
I like the detail in the top left of having a character portrait react to what's going on, I assume inspired by Pizza Tower.
Decent idea, but the response on the gun is really slow.
Needs better music, art, and sound effects. Do you need help finding a website that'll give you those?
Edit: There's a lag when I click. Also, if you want to voice act for your own games, why not head to the Voice Acting Forum to ask for tips?
Do you mean the bullets are too slow, or there is a lag when you click?
The art, music and sounds I designed myself, I understand they may not be to everyone's tastes, but I prefer to produce things that way. Thanks for playing!
Edit: Ah I see, I don't have that same issue with the lag, so unsure how to remedy it. I might head to that forum, it sounds interesting, thanks!
