Drunken art connoisseur stumbles through art gallery "MMPH"ing against walls to find secret areas.

This is hilarious. Well done.

Really love how it's come along so far! I only have a few small nitpicks:
1. Would be nice to have alternate control schemes. I know that typically this is a "left hand on the WASD and right on the mouse" deal, but at least with this time playing it, my left hand wasn't really dexterous enough to even outrun the crumbling bridge in the second level.
2. Cooldown time on the regular attack doesn't feel quite right, I think. Especially when you're having to deflect a lot of things coming at you like in the miniboss fight.
3. Can there be different sounds for when the player gets hurt vs when the enemies get hurt and when projectiles are hit back? If I'm aiming for a damage-less fight with the turnip, it becomes hard to tell whether I'm still meeting the requirements or not.
4. I kinda wish you could go back to specific segments of a level so you don't have to redo the whole thing. Initially I accidentally locked myself out of finding all of Big Mama's children, and I didn't want to intentionally kill myself to redo the level, so I went back to the menu and found out I had to redo the whole Herbal Hills segment again.

Otherwise, this is coming along really well and it's still just as charming as the prototype I played!

Because of the hitboxes, relative movement speed, and the enemies always homing towards me, I feel like they're pretty hard to avoid. I may just need to git gud, though. I love the aesthetics and general theme!

This is such a fun and creative take on Minesweeper! I think it’s cool that doing well in the minesweeper part of the game gives you a leg up to get yourself out of trouble when you screw up and have to fight.

Question: I’ve noticed a couple times that tiles with the number 4 trigger kraken battles when unearthed. Is this intentional?

TheSailorDev responds:

I am glad you enjoyed it. I wanted to create something simple enough that I would be able to finish the game but also try and make it enjoyable.

The 4+ tiles in pink are tiles that COULD trigger a Kraken battle if you haven't flagged the bomb tiles correctly before opening the 4+. It was a way of trying to really make you think while playing.

Really cool game mechanic. Think it could be expanded in the future, I'd love to see what challenges you can come up with!

Tiny quality of life thing: I’d like a button to back out of a game mode so I can select another one. Other than that, I’ll keep playing and see what I find!

Edit: Didn’t know that was clickable.

St4rryQueen responds:

The main menu button is in the pause menu, which is accessible by clicking the BounceCoin icon whilst playing a game.

Berg!

I'm surprised this doesn't have a front page, it's very polished and I love how thought out the mechanic is.

Edit: Front paged now. My wish came true!

TheBurntToast responds:

thank you :)

The checkpoints were a bit hard to find, so I'd recommend an arrow pointing to the next one whenever you find a dog. Otherwise, nice work!

Got no criticisms other than what FutureCopLGF pointed out. I can see a lot of heart put into this, what you created is a very beautiful game. I love the music especially, though I kinda wish the whole thing were united by the same musical style as what plays in the first level - the woods level theme felt off given that it went standard orchestral instead of more traditional folk-instrument.

Some of the dialogue also needs proofreading, I see a couple errors.

Oddly enough, I beat the boss with the weapon I was least good at using (thorn grenade).

I like the general concept and mechanics, as well as the story I've seen so far!

Music and sound design leaves some to be desired - repetitive music tracks, bat noises being very loud, and very treble-heavy sound design overall. I'd love to offer my services for future games if you're looking for someone to do that.

I really don't like that the bats in the maze regenerate whenever I go back to a torch. I backtrack to keep my candle meter filled, and knocking out a bat takes a lot out, which means I'm stuck in an endless backtrack loop trying to keep it filled enough to hit the same bat. Otherwise, I'd love to keep going!
