The only thing I’ll say is that your line work is a little rough. But hey, that takes a while to master, either with pixel art or with drawing.

The animation aspect of this, however, is awesome! I love the concept, and what you did with the words around the head. The animation is also really smooth! I noticed your use of smear frames with the eye movement, that’s a nice touch! I can tell you’ve had a lot of practice with animation.

Don’t be discouraged if your art isn’t turning out how you’d like. Keep practicing, and you’ll figure things out with time. :)

Thank you, i appreciate that :D

Ooh, this is really atmospheric. I love how the dark, warm colors of the background contrast with the cool, light colors on the Tiefling and her familiar. Also, the fact that the familiar is a cat with bat wings is amazing. (Send my compliments to the character’s owner!) Only thing I will say is it took me a second to figure out what the pose was. Otherwise, awesome job!

This is pretty and really clean! I love the clouds and the water - how did you have the patience to draw such detailed clouds and all those ripples? I also really like the stylized look of the land it’s on. It kinda connects the structure with the area around it, in a way. Great work!

DARKMOONBD responds:

I'm glad you like it, in the future I may make more pieces, I don't usually paint landscapes, but I may make a couple more in the future;)

Ooh, this is really atmospheric and creepy! I love the minimalist, hand drawn look! That is the best art style for something in this genre, in my opinion.

Hey, if you want to, you should enter this into the Halloween Spooktacular. It’s good enough that it might have a chance of winning something, and if not that, you’ll probably get some attention for it, and for your project, via the “halloween2020” tag.

Edit: Yeah, that’s how you enter. There’s info in Tom’s post about it, you can find it in the upper left hand corner of the NG homepage with other deadlines.

thank you! so I should just tag posts with #halloween2020 ?

Holy crap! You can do cars as well as people? In pixel art?! Really nice work. I like the color palette and shading (dark, high contrast shading, low color saturation, very hard edges on the shading, and a little bit blueish.) It looks like it’d fit in in the game equivalent of modern day film noir/thriller movies. Great job!

Ioruko responds:

Thank you! It's actually my second time drawing a car, and I had to rely on lots of references, but I like the result! I'm glad you noticed so many details, I sort of wanted it to look masculine with all the hard edges, square form and desaturated palette.

Ey! I admire that you’re posting your hand drawn stuff even though people don’t say it’s good. That’s the thing that keeps art alive - persistence and the will to keep going.

I’ve got two bits of advice with regards to this. One, this is a minor nitpick, but maybe try using blank paper instead of graph or lined paper. That way, the lines on the paper won’t get in the way of your art. Second, I suggest you start using Google Images to find reference photos for the things you want to draw. That will help your art get better faster.

But anyway, nice work and I’m glad you posted this!

Edit: Reference images are useful because they show you how to draw things. For instance, I'm not sure what that object is (a fire?) and what it's supposed to be producing (smoke?) You might need to use Google Images to learn a bit more about how to draw fire and smoke. Basically if you have an image you can look at for what you're trying to draw, you can study that image and see how it's supposed to look. :)

About the first tip: this is my old style and this is its trick. It is these pictures that take me more energy, time and soul.

And I would have followed this wise advice (you are not the first😉), but I'm pretty bad at doing something on a blank slate. By the way also ...: such pictures and ideas come to me during classes (school, already college). And when I'm bored I make art like this. It doesn't work that way at home. And if I draw on a blank sheet, they can interfere with sketching, and still I can't get it on blank sheets.

On the second tip: I didn't understand it. Explain better why you need it?

But in general, thanks for the feedback and opinion, and of course advice - it's nice :)

Freud is outdated. Kelman is the psychologist we should all be looking up to...

Jokes aside, this is a bit basic but I really love the effect you did with Thomas. The shadowy stuff around him really conveys the fact that he’s about to freaking explode. Stanley better arm himself with those cartoon sweat drops.

Hold up, wait a minute! Something ain’t right! Okay, you never told me Thomas was that screwed up!

As for the art... great execution on this, I guess? I don’t know the context

Eeeeee, I love the steampunk look! I love the little sparkly effects! You seem to have a knack for cool little effects that make all these designs just pop!

ZeTrystan responds:

Oh, happy you think so! :') I always try to give them a little special thing if I can ahah

She’s adorable and deserves to have her own game. Kinda Cucumber Quest vibes with the wholesome looking character and the rabbit(?) ears, actually. I love the sparkles in the background too - those look really good. Great work!
