SNRK! This is great!

In answering Snailsnip’s question: Umlauts on a vowel are used to signify different sounds in different languages. I know three pronunciations of o with umlaut. In Turkish and Icelandic it sounds kinda like “uh”, and in German it’s more “oo”. I’m not doing a very good job of transcribing it in any of those languages; it’s probably just best to look up a pronunciation guide on YouTube and hear it. Unfortunately I don’t know how it is in Swedish, which would be the best for this context since Ikea is a company from Sweden.

To ZeTrystan: Great execution as always! I especially love the sign with the fake Ikea product name, it makes this even more hilarious.

ZeTrystan responds:

Also in french, they are usually a way to separate to vowels. (for example, ''maïs'' would be read as mah-iss and not m-è-s).

And thanks Escapist! :'D

Ooh, pretty! Props to Inknettl for the design! And as for the way you drew her, this totally looks like a character portrait for an RPG! Great job as usual!

Hey, this is cute! The design is cute, and you’re doing well with the pose as well. Just a couple of things. One, I’d like you to take some time to clean up your line work and make sure it’s not wobbly. I myself have a little bit of problems with that too, especially when sketching on paper, so I know how that feels, haha! Second, I’d like you to take a look at some tutorials on how to do soft highlighting and shading, especially with clothing and hair. I see you’ve generally got the right idea, but with the shirt and hair it’s kind of all over the place, so a tutorial might help you clear up a bit of the confusion there.

Don’t let this discourage you! If you keep practicing, you’ll get better over time. Feel free to approach my advice at your own pace or ignore it for a while if you’re not comfortable doing that yet. :)

Wow, you’ve got a talent for sprucing up ref images to make them really pop! I really admire that, considering I myself try to take the time to present refs in a way that looks nice as well.

Tiny nitpick on the color palette: usually you’d want to include all of the colors that are used in the design. I don’t see the light brown in there. But otherwise, nice work!

UPYOUR1999 responds:

Thanks a lot. I debated putting the light brown due to the fact it's so similar to the brown on the shirt. This was actually my first ref sheet ever made and I'm delighted to hear that it caught another's eye.

Ouch haha, that doesn’t sound like fun at all.

You’re really good at making these funny comics, like you know the best way to tell these jokes. Artistic execution is great as always. Great job!

ZeTrystan responds:

Well, happy you think so! :)

Okay, that's really pretty. It looks like a still from an anime. Really nice work with that kind of art style, you nailed it.

Hah, nice. I especially love the bright yellow speech bubble with the little chibi Sol face in it. It just works so well. I’m actually gonna be testing out the use of different lettering and styles of speech bubbles to convey different things about what’s being said (tone, emphasis, voice characteristics, etc), so thanks for reminding me to do that. You should totally try messing around with lettering types like that as well!

Also looking at his hoodie I saw the colors and immediately thought of Oblivion at Alton Towers. Send help lol

He looks like a preteen boy in this outfit and that fits so well with his character lmao

Not much else to say. I like the color choices of the outfit and background and the dark line around him. He’s grumpy. Everything about this pic conveys him being a grump.

No, I do not. I know perfectly well what that entails. The answer is no.

Jokes aside, nice art. The pinkish shading color works pretty well. The shaded parts of Hugo’s hair wouldn’t stand out against the background except for the fact that you’ve got that white line around the whole character. I also like how the background goes white at the bottom, it really makes it stand out more.
