The color choices look cool!

I’d recommend you start smaller when drawing pixel art, and work your way up in resolution. That way, you can render details without it just looking like a regular drawing.

I’d also recommend you practice drawing from references in the style you want to emulate. It should give you a good sense of stylized proportions and help you improve your character drawing technique!

Keep going!

Hi Nebulate! Not bad for a fully lined style that you haven’t attempted in a bit. The one thing I’d recommend practicing is keeping curvy tubes you draw a uniform width, and drawing with longer strokes to make your sketchy line art look smoother. Otherwise it’s pretty good!

Nebulate responds:

Thanks. Yeah, i know im not the best with curved tubes. I am drawing with outlines for the month of Oktober so i definitly coud use some guide of how to have a better understanding. But still thanks for the tips.

Looks really good! Out of all the rendering styles you’ve tried in the past few artworks, this is the one you’re likely best at. (Those others might be old, though, I don’t know.) Keep up the good work and you might be scouted in the near future!

Good render.

If you’re looking for someone to scout you, there’s an NSFW Artist Hangout Thread in the Art Forum!

Edit: Asking someone to scout you is discouraged, but by showing up and talking, you'd likely eventually find someone who likes you enough to scout you.

SuperSlogger responds:

Oh really? Would I just leave a response asking for someone to scout me?

Looks really good! What I’d recommend you do for future drawings is use pose references, or even print them out and trace the basic shapes of the pose. I feel like she’s standing a little stiffly, so maybe that can help. I know a lot of good places to find pose references, so let me know if you need help!

(Shoutout to @corpsecake and @HatiValcoran who both introduced me to Invader Zim)

Really nice rendering - you seem to have improved a lot even since the last artwork you posted! Keep it up!

Theinkguy responds:

Appreciated man.

Very well rendered! One tiny nitpick I have is that “adult themes” should’ve been clicked in the rating category.

The face looks a bit lopsided and I’m not quite convinced by the way you drew the squished part, but the rendering and everything else look really good! Might be good to look up a reference in the future.

I saw your post about not getting much feedback, and I agree that your work is very niche, but digital paper dolls are exactly my niche and I’m glad I came up check it out.

Well done overall, you rendered the details well with this style. My one point of confusion is why you posted screenshots of your own work - did the originals come out too small or similar? If so, I can help you figure out how to upscale your drawings in Piskel, that’s what I use for pixel art myself!

Maybe one way to get yourself some attention would be to team up with a programmer and make an entry for my Costume Jam, which is a game jam focused on dress-up games and virtual paper dolls like these. It ends on the 31st, so you’ll have time, there’s no judging stage, and I’ll be posting about all the entries that are made once the jam ends!

shadowfals responds:

Thank you for your feedback on this!

With too many things breaking around me, I don't think I can contribute to the Costume Jam. But that seems really fun! I'm looking forward to seeing what dress-up game creators share this month.

In answer to your question about the screenshots—I can't access the project files, currently. I was removing the posts from the Mastodon instance, so I put those up as placeholders until I can pull up the original images again.

Update on Oct 24, 2023: I've replaced the first screenshot. The rest is staying for my convenience... with the assumption it's not bothersome for others.

Update on May 4, 2023: No more screenshots!

Feels like it could be a comic cover, honestly! The ladder was a bit hard to tell in the cracked mirror version, but I can definitely imagine that something like that is hard to figure out.

Guileness responds:

Thanks! And yea, that ladder was a bit tricky. Probs should've added some steps to the front after all.
