That's interesting that the Shadow Queen can turn her head a full 360 degrees. It kinda furthers her spookiness/eldritch nature with the similarity to that bit in The Exorcist.

How do you manage to do animations like this where you've got something flying around and make it look so fluid?

pInkmoth responds:

the way i achieve the movements here is mostly with a handful of neat parentings and constraints. the good daughter is essentially orbiting a bone in the shadow queen's lower body.

Hah, fun shitpost! I will make some interesting low-poly objects with these tris! And potentially poke myself with the corners by accident. They look sharp.

pInkmoth responds:

they're pretty sharp

Still a bit wobbly but it looks decent otherwise! Who is this clown?

SuperKoolRaven responds:

he's an oc lol

Love the design and the colors and shapes you used for the magic! I can very much see the moth inspired motif here - it turned out very well. I like the concept of the character as well. Out of curiosity, what stuff does the character build focus on, gameplay-wise?

ZeTrystan responds:

Nothing defined yet, keeping it open for an eventual game. :)

That looks so cool, oh my god. I love the effects and stuff you used to both make the character and create the full picture. Definitely achieves the glitchy vibe. Nice work!

SC4REBEAR responds:

Thank you so much oh my fucking god! This is the first time I’ve ever tried Glitchcore so that means so much!

Wow, I love the clothing design and all the details! You also have a good grasp of how the fabric and hair behave, and character posing. Overall nice work!

BluMiu responds:

Thank you! I like to keep it practical yet not, also that I'm able to draw it with relative ease each time. Hair I think i've a good understanding and fabric is the next one I'm near a handle on (I forget thick and thin in the moment sometimes). I appreciate the comment

I love that design, and you gave the artwork such a spooky atmosphere. Love the monochrome color scheme and the lighting! And hey, I know that song!

Just out of curiosity: You have two versions of the piece, one with the extra eyes and mouths and one without. Did you draw the one without them first, save it, and then make edits from there to create the one with them? Or how did that process work?

SketchMeNot responds:

Ah! Oh gosh thank you so much! I'm glad you like the piece! It was really fun to work o! (^w^)
Oh hell yeah! That's cool that you also know the song! It's very nostalgic for me haha x)

Ah! Good question! Okay, so I drew the normal version first and polished the outlines for it. Then, within the same file, I started sketching some ideas for where the spooky mouths and eyes could go that would look good with the pose. Then I drew them and polished their outlines.
I then made copies of the normal body part layers and color coded the layers to either be for the normal version or the body horror version. I masked out the parts of the body that would be affected by the spooky stuff on the new layers. To switch between the two, I simply hid the layers that were labeled with a certain color and unhid the layers with the other color, and vice versa.

I'm really bad at explaining this kind of stuff though, so apologies if it sounds convoluted x,D

Oh no, a Hugo genderbend. What crimes will she commit?

Anyway, I like these designs! The styles of dress and other details fit very well with the characters' personalities.

Edit: We sure do live in one.

anewworldfool responds:

ty! i was having a deep convo about SOCIETY, which sparked this actually <3

Another really cool design! Twisty objects like that seem like they'd be really hard to model, especially when they're curved in a different way at the same time - how do you do that and how long did it take you?

pInkmoth responds:

not that long! if you get the underlying concepts you can do some pretty tricky things with modifiers

That's frickin' cool. What a creative use of multiple software programs to make a cool image like that. This makes me want to make stuff like that. I'm inspired. Thank you.

pInkmoth responds:

awww im glad :)
